Whilst channel hopping i’ve come across quite a few dimly lit viking/medieval/fairytale based tv shows lately.
What the writers don’t seem to appreciate is that Game Of Thrones has source material, the incredibly dense A Song Of Ice And Fire, a staggering mythos which is heavily diluted to create a season of television.
You can’t just use stilted English, gratuituous violence, full frontal nudity and the occasional ‘C word’ in a tired medieval/fantasy narrative and hope to replicate it’s success.
