I taste the darkness

Soaked black through atmosphere

And I taste fear

But this is my greatest indulgence

I feel freedom, liberation

As the world closes about me

In a dulcet embrace

I feel glory, running across my skin

But the night, so empty, so welcoming

Takes me in, this is all that i love

For all those times we conversed

I now finally understand

And it’s no suprise

You use thicker rope on your gallows now

That noose was never built to hold a prettier neck

You know what this is

This is anguish

The aftershocks of beauty

Tremors of sentiment

That run through your soul

Echoes of hope

And realisation that

Everything, no matter how beautiful,

Will die
